Use the till system/credit card system correctly


Since I have a significant amount of relevant experience, using the till and the credit card system and handling money did not make me nervous. However, one always needs time to get used to the different operating systems on tills. Luckily, the one the Dome Restaurant uses is straightforward and easy to use.

Using the till is a big responsibility. On the other hand, since in the Dome Restaurant the menu is a table d’hôte menu the price is always the same and that make the job simpler since the person on till only has to record the drinks and the number of people at a table. Luckily I managed to operate the till with few errors, however I have found running the bar at the same time a bit stressful.

I have learned that handling money is a big responsibility and needs a lot of attention and carefulness. The presentation of the receipt and the attitude of the person on till is also very important, since these are some of the last experiences of the guest before leaving the restaurant. For that reason it is necessary to be very clear and straightforward about pricing in the menu as well.
