Taking orders
The person on stations has probably the biggest responsibility towards guests. Since they take the orders they are the ones, who need to know everything about the tables and each customer. Not only do they have to keep trach of which phase each table is at (to be able to change cutlery, do check-backs and take dessert orders on time) but they also need to know if there are any special dietary requirements. Taking orders requires the waiter to pay grate attention to every detail of what the guest says. They also need to convey this message to their colleagues and the back of house in a clear and straightforward manner. It is also essential to be familiar with the food and beverage menus and know as much about ingredients as possible, since people taking orders will be the ones who guests ask questiones from.
In my opinion I can perform my job in an accurate way with great care and passion. Therefore, being on station does suit me since I can make the guests feel welcome. However I do need to learn to handle stressful situations better.
