Serving food

Working as a runner taught me how important clear table and position numbers are. Knowing which guest is having which dish will make them feel remembered and special.

There are several different styles of services. For that reason it is essential that one familiarises themselves with the type of service the restaurant or event will provide and know every step. Some styles (usually used at large events) are designed to be quick and others to be spectacular and amusing. Some restaurant use more than one styles (for example Gueridon and American styles).

While working at the Dome Restaurant I have improved my food service skills significantly and am able to serve three dishes at once maintaining a confident and professional impression. I realised that the way the food is served varies with every event and occasion and even with different head waiters. Learning about these different techniques will help me in the future with organising own event making sure that the style of service is the most suitable for the occasion.
